It works only P2. If you could help, i would to thankz indeed. Best wishes. I just did this to change a different part of the explorer, and it works great!

I haven't actually tried it yet because i don't actually feel like backing up my computer I've learnt to get bored of this task through the many times i've had to reformat my hard drives , but using logic, couldn't you just "temporarily" do this by stopping the explorer process, and just loading up the new "explorer1" process?

Reply 12 years ago on Step 5. No need to reboot. Just point the "shell" value to the new file u just hacked. Just run regedit again and change that value back to "explorer. Reply 13 years ago on Step 5. Run Resource Hacker, by double clicking ResHacker. Now, you need edit the registry. Exit Registry and restart your computer to see the new name in the start button of windows XP. Above method is not simple as it involves tweaking your windows explorer and then editing the system registry which is can create some serious problems if the procedure is not followed properly.

Download the utility from here , and double click StartB. Enter the name which you want to set in start button and click the button Change Start Button Name. You can revert the default text in start button by clicking the button Change Start Button to Default. Download Start Button Renamer from here , and install it.
